Remarks:
A sturdy and practical dayboat, the Seamaster Starlet is based on the well-known Seamaster 17 hull. Widely used as hire boats on the Norfolk Broads during the 1960s and 70s by Jack Powles & Company, their simple handling, durability and suitability for the shallow rivers still make them an ideal choice for relaxed cruising and family boating on the Broads.
Comfortably seating 4-6 people, this Starlet remained in hire until being purchased by the current owner in 2024.
After removing the diesel engine, she now benefits from an E-propulsion Navy 6 electric outboard, with the motor, batteries and installation costing in excess of £10,000, and is further protected by a custom metal engine guard at the stern. Her battery range before needing to recharge is between 50-100km depending on the usual variables of speed, current, wind and number of passengers.
Her owner comments that with the electric motor, she glides through the water so quietly it’s possible to simply relax and actually enjoy the sound of the birdsong along the riverbank – a perfect way to spend a day on the water.
