Remarks:
The Salterns Tela is one of those boats that seems to attract admirers wherever she goes.
Built with a practical GRP hull, the Tela offers all the charm of a traditional gaff-rigged dayboat without the maintenance demands of a wooden boat. Inspired by the Bristol Channel pilot boats of 1911, her sweeping sheerline and varnished spars give her a timeless appearance, while her simple rig and trailerable design make her easy to launch, sail and recover. Equally at home on rivers, creeks and estuaries, she is straightforward to sail single-handed yet has plenty of room for family and friends.
This particular vessel saw considerable investment during 2024 and has been little used since, with the owner retiring from sailing shortly after following an injury. The original custom-built trailer has been refurbished with new brakes, tyres, winch and rewired electrics, while the spars were freshly varnished and the sails professionally inspected and cleaned by Jeckells. The jib UV strip was renewed and the Honda outboard serviced, all remaining unused since.
