MAKE/MODEL: Motor cruiser by H. Gibbs of Teddington

CONSTRUCTION: Carvel planked mahogany on oak

YEAR: 1958

DIMENSIONS: LOA 35′, BEAM 10’6″, DRAFT 4′

COLOUR: White with varnished superstructure

INTERIOR: 4 berths in 2 separate cabins, wheelhouse, galley and toilet compartment

ENGINE: Main engine: BMC 2.2 diesel, separate wing engine: BMC 1.5 diesel

EQUIPMENT: Interior: This boat has a central wheelhouse and a small aft cockpit. Starting in the wheelhouse, the helm position is to port where there is excellent and full engine instrumentation. There are fitted helm and pilot seats, with a chart cupboard and fold out table in front of the pilot seat. Opening windows fore and aft, and a huge hatch (primarily to facilitate engine removal), supplement sliding doors and windows to either side in the wheelhouse roof. The wheelhouse is thus very light and airy, with superb visibility in all directions. Going forward, the forecabin has two full length berths with storage under and hanging locker, and in the bow is the toilet compartment, which has a pump-out toilet and a hand basin with pressurised hot (from calorifier) and cold water. Going aft, the main cabin has a hanging locker to starboard, plus a small sideboard/drinks cabinet to port, plus two full-length settee berths and a bulkhead mounted catalytic heater. Aft of this is the galley, which has a full sized cooker (4 burners, grill and oven), and Electrolux fridge, stainless steel sink unit, drainer and worktop plus cupboards and other storage. Double doors lead through to a small aft cockpit. Headroom throughout the boat is 6′ plus. Interior (and exterior!) décor is in excellent condition, being competed in white with varnished mahogany (see photos). The upholstery is in good shape, with the same material being used throughout (including curtains). Navigation equipment includes: Sestrel compass, brass binnacle compass, Harrier log/speedo, Hector depth sounder, clock, barometer, Husan 55 VHF radio, Neco repeater compass, Kent Clearview screen, Vetus helm indicator, and navigation and search lights. External: The boat is fitted with stainless steel pulpit rail, stanchions and guard wires. Deck equipment includes: Vetus hand operated anchor winch, loud hailer, twin horns, VHF antenna, CQR & Danforth anchors, folding signal mast on forward deck, davits, pulpit, safety lines, warps and fenders.

REMARKS: This boat has been the subject of continuous upgrading, with a huge amount of work and some £16,500 having been spent in the last 12 months. Amongst other things, this included replacement of planking in her lower hull, replacement of the foredeck, replacement of the wheelhouse roof and some of the windscreen frames, and so on. In consequence, this craft is in sparkling condition. The foredeck, wheelhouse roof and aft cabin roof have all been replaced using the West System.

OUR OPINION: A very pretty, spacious & homely vessel, kept in beautiful condition by caring owners. Much admired, a thoroughly nice coastal craft which is also ideal for inland cruising.
