Remarks:
This boat is one of only 76 Westerly Chieftians built. The Chieftain is based on the very popular Westerly Centaur, and differs from it in that it has wheel steering and a small aft cabin (providing ideal family accommodation). This example has been used for family holidays on the Norfolk Broads for over 10 years, and is now for sale due to the need for a larger vessel. Whilst she has spent much of her life cruising the Broads, this boat is suitable for coastal use (with suitable equipment and an experienced skipper), and it is believed that she was based in the Channel Islands with a previous owner. She has been wintered ashore for the last 10 years, and is currently out of the water and hence available for inspection at any time. She appears to have been extensively maintained and improved by her current owners. She was treated for osmosis in 2000, and had her keels reseated and mounts strengthened in 2001 (both works completed by a well regarded Broads boatyard). Other work includes new cabin floor, toilet, saloon & forecabin upholstery, backstay tensioner and refitting of stanchions in 1995, new cabin roof vinyl, sheets & halyards, navigation lights, switch panel, sprayhood, sail cover and gearbox rebuild in 1996, new teak cockpit floor and seats in 1997, sail service and new starter motor in 1998, new electrics and weed cutter on prop in 1999, new log in 2000, new batteries in 2003 & 2006, and regular/annual engine servicing, painting, antifouling, etc. Life jackets and safety lines are available by separate agreement.
