Remarks:
The design of this river cruiser class Broads yacht is thought to have been based on the American Cat Boats of the period. She has a fairly short, shallow fin keel and is consequently agile when it comes to tacking. She is unusual in having a hard chine which means that, when slightly heeled, she effectively has a 26ft long keel helping her to keep close up to the wind. The combination of tacking agility and the ability to sail well upwind has meant that she has achieved considerable racing success (including “Cock of the Broads” in 2008). She has been well maintained and since 2003 she has had new iroko cockpit, saloon and forepeak floors, new cant (quadrant beading around cabin sides), new cabin doors, new halyards, new wooden blocks (where required), new gas cooker, new clear acrylic (safety) windows, new canvas cabin sides, new battery, and the cabin sides have been stripped and revarnished. Additionally, she has undergone hull maintenance each winter.
