Remarks:
The Kingfisher 26JR is the same as the Kingfisher 26 Mk2 but junk rigged and with side portholes replacing the large window in the fore cabin so as to enable the mast to be stepped through the forecabin roof. This example has an improved interior than standard on the Kingfisher 26, with a very nice veneer finish having been added to the original GRP bulkheads by a previous owner, a professional wood carver. The same owner also addressed the problem of heavy weather helm, common to the 26JR, by commissioning Alan Boswell (chartered naval architect and former chief designer at Oyster Yachts) to redesign her rudder. The modification proved very successful and was consequently featured in an article in the September 2010 issue of the Junk Rig Association magazine (copy available). Also benefiting from having been re-engined in approximately 1998, this yacht was coveted by the current owner for a number of years having previously been owned by a friend. A great family sized sailing cruiser and a very desirable junk rigged yacht!
