Remarks:
With over 2,700 designs to their credit, Sparkman & Stephens designs have won countless races and international acclaim around the world. Beautiful, fast and strong, their designs have also proven themselves to be exemplary and very capable offshore cruising yachts, with vast numbers having completed Atlantic circuits (including this example) and circumnavigations. With her classic good looks, the S&S Deb 33 was first introduced as a wood prototype in the late 1960’s, with production in GRP commencing in 1969. Approximately 50 boats were built, most with a centreboard keel, but the design was also offered as a fixed fin keel version.
Yachting Monthly said of the S&S Deb 33 in 2016 “For those who like to sail hard in all conditions, and often either short-handed or solo, this is a cracking yacht. She looks lovely on the water, her overhangs and sheer give her the classic styling that owners of more mass-produced boats ofen envy. She’s stiff under sail with a generous ballast ratio, but has the bonus of a centreboard for finer pointing ability to windward, while retaining the benefits of shoal water sailing and creek-crawling. In all, she’s a solid, seaworthy and sensibly laid-out offshore yacht with the ability to make good passage times on all points of sail and take her owners across oceans.”
Having very recently been the subject of a comprehensive 9 month refit, this S&S Deb 33 is understood to be in near immaculate condition, with all new sails, rigging, engine and electronics in 2019/2020. For sale due to the purchase of a narrowboat.
