Remarks:
Completely refurbishment in 2020, the hull of this ‘woodie’ Phantom sailing dinghy – sail number 904 and one of several originally built by John Claridge – is understood to be in near concours condition. And having won several club championships, including a 1st in the Eastern Region Open at FGSC in 2019, with a 4th overall and against new Ovi’s and good sailors, she has proven herself to be fast too! With a selection of sails including flat and storm, she can also be enjoyed and sailed by lighter sailors as well.
If it’s a solid, fast and beautiful wooden Phantom that you want, look no further!
CLASS NOTES: The Phantom was designed as a high performance single-hander that is exciting to sail, manageable, affordable to build, and comfortable and fast for larger sailors/adults. The Phantom has a hard chine hull with a deep ‘V’ bow, a flat run aft, and planes easily. With her lightweight hull and large rig on a stayed mast, she has a high power to weight ratio, but is stable and responsive, and has no trapeze or spinnaker. The Phantom class association suggests a PY of 1048 for wooden Phantoms.
