Remarks:
The Tela was first designed in 1911 and was one of a number of sixteen footers operating as small pilot boats in the Bristol Channel. Reproduced in GRP since 1990, the Tela is easy to handle single-handed, but can comfortably accommodate 3 or 4 people in her spacious cockpit. She is easy to tow behind a car.
This Tela has been owned by the current owner since new, and is professionally maintained and wintered ashore indoors. With her removable thwart (held in place by wing nuts), it is possible to camp on board, the flat floor being approximately 8ft long.
Blue Jay is one of a number of Telas that sail on the Norfolk rivers. With their light blue hulls, the Telas have become a familiar sight on the Broads in the last 25 years.
Having been varnished, painted and antifouled in April 2022, Blue Jay is ready to sail!
NOTE: A newly commissioned Tela built to a standard sailaway specification (i.e.: without trailer or outboard) currently costs in excess of £18,000 making this example, which has clearly been maintained to a very high standard, very good value.
BOAT SAFETY SCHEME: This vessel is currently exempt from the Boat Safety Scheme having no systems currently fitted that fall under the scheme’s criteria.
