Remarks:
This Norfolk Broads River Cruiser Class yacht was originally built as a half decker, with a two berth cabin added subsequently and is one of a class of of similar classic cuddy half-deckers all built by Ernest Woods who took the inspiration for their long fixed keel from his time working earlier on similar craft on the Great Lakes in Canada. There are thought to be 4 other similar boats still in existence; Oriole, Demoiselle, Mig and Cirrus. Collectively, the boats are known colloquially as ‘Tizzy Wizzy’s’ but much of the information about this has been lost to history.
Nirvana has been boatshed stored each winter, The owners have undertaken basic maintenance, but all significant repairs have been undertaken professionally. She has been sailed regularly as a day cruiser on the River Yare. She sails well in both light and moderate winds. She has been entered for the Yare Navigation Race most years for at least the last 14 years. With previous owners she has has won the Wilberforce Cup for smaller boats in the YNR.
