Remarks:
This Broads sailing cruiser was designed and built by Walter Woods, and is thought to have been copied from the American Cat Boats of the period. She has a fairly short, shallow fin keel and is consequently agile when it comes to tacking. She is unusual in having a hard chine, which means that, when slightly heeled, she effectively has a 26ft long keel helping her to keep close up to the wind. The combination of tacking agility and the ability to sail well upwind has meant that she has achieved considerable racing success in the past (although not raced by the current owner). She has been well maintained and is wintered ashore ever winter (Oct-Mar). Since 2003 she has had the following works carried out under professional guidance:
- New cabin doors
- New Iroko cockpit, saloon and forepeak floors
- New halyards
- New wooden blocks (where required)
- New gas cooker (installed by registered installer)
- New cant (quadrant beading around cabin sides)
- Cabin sides have been stripped and re-varnished
- New handrails on cabin top
- New clear acrylic (safety) windows
- New full awning
- New canvas cabin sides
- Restored original baby Blake toilet
- Installed manual and electric bilge pump with trip switch
- New flexible solar panel
- New battery
- Annual hull maintenance each winter
This boat is for sale due to the purchase of a larger sea-going yacht.
A road trailer (OIRO £1,000) and outboard (2003 Yamaha 4 stroke 4hp long shaft outboard) are available by separate negotiation.
