The Thurne Restricted Class cruiser is a cabin version of the Yare & Bure One Design (YBOD). With her GRP hull and timber superstructure, she combines the advantages of modern materials and low maintenance, with the grace and beauty of a traditional Norfolk Broads river cruiser. This example was purchased by her current owner in 1998 and she would appear to have been maintained to a very high standard since (condition reports from 2007 and 2012 are available, the former providing a valuation of £15,000 for insurance purposes). She is for sale due to the purchase of another vessel, and is currently lying ashore under cover.

The 2012 condition report concluded: “In excellent condition throughout. All varnishwork in A1 condition. The sails, cover and wooden spars were also inspected and found to be in good order.”

Her powerful rig can make her a challenge to sail in strong, gusty conditions, yet with a couple of reefs in and an additional crew-member on board, she will still prove reassuringly stable, with her semi-balanced rudder making her a relatively light touch on the helm.”
