Remarks:
The Devon (and earlier Drascombe) Lugger remains an immensely popular day sailer, with in excess of 2000 examples having been built since it’s introduction in 1968. With an attractive and traditional appearance, the Lugger is easily managed and sailed either single-handed or with family or crew, and she is light enough to be towed behind just about any family car (although unfortunately, no trailer is available or included in this sale).
For sale to make way for a larger cruising boat for overnighting, this Devin Lugger is in good order throughout and is offered together with an optional environmentally-friendly Torqueedo Travel electric outboard motor (mounted inboard in a well) which, together with remote control, was purchased new just last year and is still under warranty, making her an excellent option if you’re looking for a small and capable day sailer for either inland or inshore/estuary and wish to avoid the noise and pollution associated with petrol outboards. Afloat and ready to sail!
A QUICK SALE IS DESIRED AND OFFERS WILL BE CONSIDERED!
Quotes from the builder’s literature:
“Probably the best known and most admired open dayboat. The Lugger typifies our range. Our craftsmanship finish with bronze fittings and beautiful hardwood trim places this boat in a class of it’s own.”
“Easy to launch and sail, especially with our own roller coaster trailer solo or fully crewed. The loose footed sails and sliding gunter rig are easy to handle – there’s no boom to look out for!”
“It’s a dayboat which you can convert with a sprayhood – it’s a sailing boat, a rowing boat, or with recommended 4-6hp outboard motor, a very manoeuvrable run about.”
“This boat was originally called the Drascombe Lugger and then re named Original Devon Lugger.”
“The Lugger also has the European recreational craft directive, and carries up to seven people safely. She can be found adventure sailing on open coast, quiet fishing trips, or exploring inlets and backwaters.”
