Remarks:
Loch Broom Post Boats sail well on all points of sailing and are stable boats suitable for Norfolk inland waters, large lochs & lakes, estuary and inshore coastal sailing.
The Mainsail can be reefed and the jib can be furled to reduce sail area.
The 4hp engine with reverse provides auxiliary power for when not sailing.
From the manufacturer’s website:
“The Post Boat is based on the Loch Broom Post Boat; a small, clinker-built sailing vessel which was used for delivery of mail to the remote community on Loch Broom, Wester Ross. The original Post Boat is now in the Irvine Maritime Museum, Scotland.”
“While made in fibreglass to ensure easy maintenance, they retain the charm and many characteristics of the wooden originals. This very attractive craft gains attention wherever it is seen.”
The Loch Broom Post Boat is a beamy and stable family cruising dinghy, with a very roomy cockpit thanks to her long keel and the absence of a centre plate box. She offers good windward performance and good ability on all points of sail, and is not slow on tacks and gybes. Conveniently she doesn’t require a braked trailer due to the overall gross weight of boat and trailer being below 750kg.
With ‘sail away’ prices for a brand new Post Boat starting at £17,500 with a trailer and outboard, this example would appear to be very good value! Grab a bargain for £8,250 for a 2015 model that looks almost as good as new!
