Remarks:
Monty has been in private ownership since new (2022) and is in excellent condition. Bought as a ‘beginner boat’ in order to learn to sail, Monty has enjoyed light use on the river Thurne, Norfolk Broads. Monty has been the perfect ‘beginner’ boat, but is now for sale owing to the want of a new sailing challenge!
Drascombes epitomise everything that a traditional sailing dinghy should be! Derived from traditional clinker built boats, from which the Dabber gains her seaworthiness, as well as being easy rowing from two positions and excellent in shallow waters. Whilst a little smaller than the more numerous Drascombe Lugger, the Drascombe Dabber still carries a full yawl rig offering flexibility of sail plan and is easily distinguished from her larger sister by her bowsprit and transom-hung rudder.
With plenty of stowage space and easy handling, the Dabber makes a great little family boat, easily trailed, and quickly rigged. Should the wind drop, the small outboard is more than adequate to propel her briskly along.
The yawl rig, with 118 sq ft. of sail, has a standing lug mainsail, with a jib set flying with a bowsprit and a mizzen sail mounted on the transom with a bumpkin. Both are easily removed for mooring.
