Her owner comments:
I acquired Anguilla about 6 years ago from her owner in Gloucestershire. All I know about her is what he told me and that was that she had been a project boat for the Exmouth College of Boatbuilding. Never before had I seen a small craft in such perfect condition. The standard of the refurbishment was nearly unbelievable and they had also fitted a reconditioned Stuart Turner inboard.
Less is known about Anguilla’s past history. I was told that she was thought to be a pre-war ex. Broads boat originally fitted with a lugsail rig and centre board casing. The mast and casing had been stripped out leaving very little evidence of her previous life.
I duly registered her for use on the Norfolk/Cambridgeshire Ouse but only had her in the water once. I realised that her condition was so exceptional that I would not be able to keep up her appearance. She’s really a museum exhibit. So, she was brought home and sheeted down in one of our barns where she has remained ever since. I keep her battery charged and a couple of weeks ago I started her engine. She remains as good as she was when I bought her.
Now for sale owing to the passage of time, a new custodian is sought to look after her in the manner to which she has become accustomed and is sold “As is, Where is”.
