Remarks:
An ideal first boat, or small family sailing cruiser with the cabin offering accommodation for four, the Swift 18 is sure to provide lots of fun out on the water! Understood to have been in current ownership for some 3 years she is now for sale owing to the purchase of a larger boat.
The Swift 18 was designed as a fast, yet comfortable, trailer sailor, with enough built in buoyancy to be virtually unsinkable if swamped, even with 3 crew aboard. When reviewed in April 1982, Practical Boat Owner magazine said of the Swift 18, “in a nasty Force 6/7 and with 2 reefs in the main she stayed light on the helm, was well balanced and galloped along like a racehorse”.
Her owner comments:
I have sailed her extensively, solo, across Lyme Bay and the south coast in a very wide range of conditions. She has been the first vessel to leave our harbour and the last to return for the last couple of seasons. Last year I sailed her into Lyme Regis harbour alongside a fully crewed 40′ French racing yacht in a force 6 and the crew came over, after they moored up, to say how impressed they were with my little boat. She will happily face bigger seas than I can manage.
She is very strong and rigid and extremely safe with her built in buoyancy.
She is in great condition and ready to sail.
