Her owner comments:
I have owned this beautiful little dinghy for 33 years using it for my own enjoyment and to teach my children and grandchildren to sail. Sadly she does not get used now and so it’s time to pass her on. She is not a perfect example but is in excellent usable condition. Designed by Uffa Fox and built by Fairey Marine, she is 9 foot long with a 4 foot beam and Gunter rigged.
Two years ago I stripped the hull and replaced a 6″x2″ strip, in the outside skin and small piece of the stem where a galvanised eye bolt had been. I then gave her 6 coats of varnish, since when she has been stored in my workshop. The inside has been re-varnished at various times during my ownership. The sails are in perfect condition as are the mast, boom and yard. She is simple to rig, sails well and is easy to handle, I often sailed her with just the mainsail, as the jib is quite small.
She comes with a lifting rudder, centre board, a pair of oars, rowlocks, three inflatable buoyancy bags and an overall cover.
Mast, spars and all equipment fit in the dinghy for transportation and storage.
Points to consider :
- The trailer is not a high spec, galvanised one, it is very usable, tows well and is functional, with a small jockey wheel. I have fitted new wheels and tyres and have also checked and greased the bearings.
- The previous owner had epoxy repairs carried out by a local boatyard after the dinghy fell off its trailer. (see photo) These repairs are still good and tight and do not detract from the look of the dinghy.
- There has also been a small repair to the corner of the transom, which again is good and sound. (see photo)
