EQUIPMENT: Internal: The vessel has a good sized cockpit with seating and lockers to both sides. On the starboard side, there is a fitted, folding sink unit with drainer, in addition to which there are crockery and food cupboards situated under the seats. The cabin, the roof of which has a lifting centre section, is separated into 3 main sections: aft, which has a full-length settee berth to either side, centre, which houses the galley and heads, and forward, where there are two further full-length berths. It is understood that the upholstery was renewed comparatively recently – it is certainly in a condition which bears this out. There are drawers under all of the berths. There is a purpose-made mattress which provides a 5th berth on the floor in the forward cabin. The galley area, which has a sliding hatch in the roof, provides a Flavel Vanessa cooker (2 burners, grill and oven) plus storage, and the heads has a sliding hand basin and sea-toilet. External: The boat’s decks are covered in a vinyl deck covering and her cabin top is finished in lino, a traditional covering used on Broads craft. The folding canvas gussets (where the cabin top lifts) have recently been renewed in blue canvas and appear to be unmarked. The forepeak is extremely clean and tidy, and she has a self-contained, drained gas locker in the foredeck (contains two gas bottles). The boat comes complete with warps, fenders and mudweight. Additionally, she has 2 awnings, one for use when cruising (doubles as a cockpit tent, for which there are frames) and the other for when she is not in use. There is also an overall winter cover. All covers are in excellent condition.
REMARKS: The vessel was surveyed in 1997 (report could be made available). In this there was a recommendation that the gas installation be upgraded and this is understood to have been done.
OUR OPINION: This is a really nice, well maintained boat which has clearly been much loved – and still is. It is unusual to find a Broads sailing cruiser built in teak. Add to this the fact that she has (a) been professionally maintained for the last 29 years and (b) been in the same ownership throughout that period, and she must be an attractive option. Early viewing is recommended.
