Remarks:

This strongly built steel Spray 28 hull consists of a bare hull, deck, coach roof and cockpit. Her standing deck gear (tabernacle, hand rails, boom gallows supports, chain plates, fore hatch aperture and coaming, main hatch coaming and runners, main hatch garage securing cleats, ventilator stubs for dorade vents, cleats for dorade boxes, harness securing points, sheet winch platforms, stern davit hinges, stanchions, pulpit, quarter fairleads, windlass base and spurring (chain) pipe, cranse iron and anchor chain roller, bobstay fitting, rudder shaft tube and bottom cup, rudder shaft and rudder, and anode studs) have been installed. Internally, she has ballast, mast support, engine bed and stern tube fitted, but otherwise she is empty. Headroom is about 6ft.

This boat was built in 1983 by Watercraft of Evesham, under professional survey and with the constant attendance of the owner (a merchant seaman). The owner holds the build contract, invoice (showing VAT paid) and a series of photographs showing the various stages of the construction. The owner states that the lower hull scantlings (plate thickness, etc.) were increased in a trade off for ballast, which has increased hull strength whilst maintaining the low centre of gravity. He also states that the hull is fair (no filler) and has soft chines (1in solid chine bars). This boat was built for home completion, but this has never taken place and she has been ashore for her entire life. She was initially given a very good sand blasting and paint job, and has remained sealed from the weather. The owner has stated that, after 22 years on blocks, she is now showing some localised light rusting and another sand blast and repaint will be required after the completion of the fitting out. Her holding coat, which was added to protect the original epoxy from UV degradation, has started to peel, but the owner believes that the steel is sound beneath. Most of the items included in the sale have been purchased brand new during the last 20 years, and are still unused and in their original packaging. This boat is for sale due to a change of plans.
